About AMCRE

AMCRE was created during 1991, when Irene Lange, former Mendocino County Treasurer-Tax Collector retired. Irene said that her first priority upon retiement was to create a support organization for retired Mendocino County employees. She set about it, with her usual vigor and determination, and got the cooperation of the Mendocino County Employees Association to contact all retirees to gauge interest. Enough retirees responded favorably to get the ball rolling. By early 1992 (20th January), AMCRE held its first regular meeting.

More than 18 years later, AMCRE is a strong and growing organization and Irene Lange is still an active member and guiding force. AMCRE started small but now has most Mendocino County retirees as members, with over 740 by fall of 2010.
